Radiant Floors Are Amazing – Feet Down!

Its officially winter time here in the northeast. On Sunday 12/26, we got a windy reminder of the seasons presence. With a blizzard that forced many of us to recoil into the warmth and comfort of our homes. Ahh, one of the many pleasures of winter to retreat from the cold into the warmth. Walking through your interior this season, whats the feeling underfoot?

Underfoot?

Yes, Im talking about the time while indoors, within your home, when you are without shoes, socks or slippers. Is the flooring arctic cold? Do you get chills as you anticipate walking into your bathroom, sunroom, kitchen or any area where the floors are tiled? The ideal solution? Radiant floor heating.

The appeal of radiant floor heating.

Radiant floor heating provides incredible floor warmth and increases comfort level, while reducing energy usage. There are two primary types of radiant heating electric radiant (generally used in a bathroom or kitchen) and hot water “hydronic” radiant (the leading system for heating an enture house). As noted, each uses a different process to generate heat through flooring.

Its an efficient heat distribution system that provides heating for an interior, from an uncommon source  underneath the floors, no vents or radiators attached. All taking place invisibly. You never see it. Many systems can be set set to turn on automatically before you get up and shut off when you choose. Fantastic!

If you’re looking to renovate or upgrade the tile flooring in your interior, radiant flooring is an efficientsolution to warm those floors! Aesthetically, its perfect! It all happens beneath the tile surface which is a great advantage to interior design.

  1. Nice explanation on the benefits of radiant flooring. Since my unit is located in the ground level the floors tend to be very cold during the winter. I wish I had consulted with you on radiant flooring before installing my wood and ceramic tile flooring. Thanks!
